Suosikkikynttelikköni pääsi taas esiin juhlan kunniaksi. Sillä piti kattaa syntymäpäivän kahvipöytä ja edessä oli klassinen ongelma: mihin kaikki mahtuu? Ratkaisu: Kun yhdistää kukat ja kynttilät, saa lisätilaa juhlaherkuille. Tämä pitkänomainen kynttelikkö on tukeva, liikuteltava ja siinä on myös jalusta, jonka päälle voi hyvin kiinnittää pari palaa kukkasientä. Yleensä suosin kierrätystä ja käytän kahta kermapurkista (juhlat vaativat kermaa, eikö niin?) leikattua alustaa kukkasienelle, jonka peitän vihreällä kukkateipillä.
My favorite candelabra was taken into use once again for a special occasion. While the purpose was to set up a nice coffee table, there was this classical problem to solve: where to fit all? A solution: by combining the flowers and the candles, there will be more space for festive delicacies to offer. This long-form candelabra is robust, movable and it has a good base or mounting for attaching two spacious pieces of floral foam. Usually, I prefer recycling and reuse a couple of cream cartons (celebration requires some cream, right?) tailoring them as containers for the floral foam and mask them by the floral tape.

Tarvitset kynttelikön lisäksi siis kaksi tyhjää kermapurkkia, kukkasientä, kukkateippiä, leikkokukkia, leikkovihreää ja koristelankaa. Aseta kostea kukkasieni sopivan korkeaksi leikattuun kermapurkkiin, siten että kukkasientä on esillä muutama sentti. Sovita purkit kynttelikön jalustaan ja teippaa kukkateipillä purkit toisiinsa kiinni. Samalla peitä purkkien värikäs pinta. Asettele leikot kukkasieneen. Käytä ensin leikkovihreää, mieluiten joitakin pitkiä tai köynnöstäviä oksia, esim. ruskusta tai murattia, kietoutumaan kynttelikön varsien ympärille ja peittämään alustaa. Sitten lisää kukat sivuille, pyrkien ulottumaan ensin mahdollisimman pitkälle. Tue tarvittaessa sitoen varret koristelangalla kynttelikköön. Keskellä sommittele valitsemasi kukat (tässä pääroolissa ruusut) säteittäin pysyen kynttilöiden alla tai sivuilla. Muista paloturvallisuus aina kun kynttilöitä on mukana asetelmassa.

So you need a candelabra, two empty cream cartons, some floral foam, floral tape, cut flowers, cut foliage and decorative wire. Place the moist floral foam to the cut cream carton, so that the foam is on display an inch or so. Fit the cartons on the base of the candelabra and use the floral tape to tape the cartons together. At the same time cover the cartons' colorful surface. Arrange the cut material to the floral foam. Use first the cut foliage, preferably with some long or climbing branches, like ruscus or ivy, for example, to delicately wrap around the arms of the candelabra and cover the base. Then add more flowers to the sides, trying first extend as far as possible. If necessary, bind the stems with decorative wire to the candelabra. In the middle, compose your feature flowers (here the red and yellow roses) radially, remaining under or around the candles. Always remember fire safety, when any candles are included into your arrangement.
